With all of the buzz around this new thing on the market, it’s hard to sift through the medical research, the deceptive or confusing articles and the science. It begs the question, what exactly is CBD oil?

Simply put Cannabidiol oil, or CBD oil, is one compound (of many) found in the Cannabis plant. These compounds are called Cannabinoids.
CBD oil is extracted from the flowers an buds of hemp plants. And, pure CBD oil contains 0.3% or less than the compound from Cannabis that gets you “high”, which is THC (tetrahydrocannabinol ).

It’s been found to relieve anxiety and pain, treat sleep disorders, epilepsy and possibly fight cancer and tumors. Is it legal?
The short answer is “it’s complicated”
CBD oil is legal in the 29 states where medicinal and/or recreational marijuana is legal. Additionally, 17 states have CBD-specific laws: Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Each of those states has unique restrictions on THC levels and use cases. For instance, in Missouri it can only be used to treat epilepsy.
